I’m drinking some (not so great) Jasmine Green Tea and listening to Jimmy Eat World on Hype Machine.
I, for some reason, felt like returning to junior year of high school. That’s when I first heard JEW’s self-titled album. My music tastes evolved that year. I had been listening to Korn and Limp Bizkit.. and Ours, Tool, A Perfect Circle… stuff like that. But by the end of my junior year, I was listening to Jimmy Eat World; Jump, Little Children; The B-Sides; Guster; The Pixies; The Flaming Lips; Ozma; Weezer (only Pinkerton and the Blue Album); Bright Eyes! … I was all indie-emo kid. God I loved Weezer and Bright Eyes (*searches HypeM for “The Calendar Hung Itself“*)
Then… I discovered My Chemical Romance about four years later. And Paramore around two months ago. Now I’m full fledged emo. And I don’t mean Emo-kid emo.. I mean I love Emotional Hardcore, with a little pop flair. And so what? I like music that makes me feel. And that’s the kind that does it for me. I also like really emotional classical music, like solo piano (think Moonlight Sonata)…
But whatever.. listening to all that stuff just takes me back. I really loved high school (in hindsight). I guess everyone sorta does.. it was simpler somehow back then. It was ok to not know what you want. It was ok to not have a job or worry about paying bills. But now.. haha.. now it’s a little different.
But it’s ok–I’m still young! This advertising thing is working for me right now, but once the right thing comes along I’ll know. Til then, I’ll spin my wheels at work–haha, I’ll blog at work and listen to Weezer and think about high school.
